After drawing, the internal particles of copper wire are broken, the character is distorted, there is relatively human residual internal stress, and its structure is in an unstable hardening state. In order to eliminate residual stress, improve microstructure and improve the comprehensive properties of wire rod, annealing must be carried out according to the requirements of material properties.
As we all know, in the heating process of cold deformation, the microstructure will change in three stages with the increase of temperature, namely recovery, recrystallization and grain growth. Therefore, according to the different heating temperature, the annealing process can be divided into stress relief annealing (recovery) and recrystallization annealing. Fine and uniform equiaxed grains can be obtained after annealing, but if the heating temperature is too high or the heating time is too long, the recrystallized grains will continue to grow and become coarse-grained structure.
For copper wires, the annealing temperature should be higher than the minimum recrystallization temperature (initial recrystallization temperature), but it must be lower than the temperature at the stage of excessive grain growth. In the actual design and calculation, the minimum recrystallization temperature of copper wire is 100-270 °C and the recrystallization annealing temperature is 500-570 °C. Continuous annealing is to insert an annealing device between the drawing device and the take-up device of the wire drawing machine to make the copper wire anneal while passing through.
At present, continuous high-speed annealing adopts contact resistance annealing. It is to pass the stretched hard copper wire through the energized contact wheel to make the current directly pass through the wire, and use the resistance of the wire itself to heat the wire, so as to achieve the annealing temperature and then rapid water cooling, so as to achieve the purpose of annealing.
